Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about home care

The questions Calgary families ask us most. If yours isn't here, just call. We'd rather explain it properly.

Getting Started Our Caregivers Scheduling Costs
Non-medical home care covers everyday support that helps someone stay safe and independent at home: bathing, dressing, meals, housekeeping, companionship, errands, and supervision. It does not include nursing tasks such as wound care, injections, or medication administration. We provide medication reminders, not administration. If your loved one needs clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and can work alongside their healthcare providers.
Call us or send the form on our contact page. We'll have a short conversation about your situation, then arrange a free in-home consultation to understand needs, routines, and preferences. From there we recommend a care plan and match a caregiver. Most families can start care within a few days of that first call.
Every caregiver goes through a screening process before working with clients, including a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search, reference checks, and verification of relevant training and certifications. We hire for temperament as much as skill, because patience and reliability matter as much as credentials in someone's home.
That's our goal. Consistency is one of the biggest factors in whether home care actually works, so we match clients with a regular caregiver rather than rotating whoever is available. When your primary caregiver is away, we arrange a backup who has been briefed on your loved one's routine and preferences.
Tell us and we'll rematch. No awkwardness, no penalty. Personality fit matters enormously in home care, and not every pairing works. We'd far rather change the match than have your family put up with care that doesn't feel right.
We build schedules around real need rather than forcing families into fixed blocks. Some clients want a few hours a week, others need daily visits, overnight coverage, or live-in support. Call us with your situation and we'll tell you plainly what's practical and what it would involve.
Yes. Care needs change after a hospital stay, during a family visit, or as a condition progresses. You can increase, reduce, or pause services with reasonable notice. We don't lock families into long-term contracts.
Yes. We schedule outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight. Availability depends on caregiver scheduling, so the more notice you can give, the easier it is to arrange the right match.
Cost depends on the type of care, hours per week, and whether you need overnight or live-in support. We give you a clear rate and an estimated weekly total during the free consultation, before you commit to anything. No hidden fees, no surprise charges.
We serve Calgary and surrounding communities. If you're just outside the city, call and ask. We'll tell you honestly whether we can staff your area reliably rather than promising coverage we can't deliver consistently.
Yes. The first weeks home after a hospital stay are when families most often need support. We can help with personal care, meals, household tasks, and supervision during recovery, working alongside any home health or rehabilitation services already involved.
This is extremely common, and pushing rarely works. What usually does: start small, with a few hours a week for something practical like housekeeping or driving to appointments, rather than personal care. Once trust builds with a familiar caregiver, most clients accept more support naturally. We're happy to talk through how to approach the conversation.
